ÃÛÌÒAV's 12th Annual Giving Day on October 28, 2025, exceeded expectations by raising more than $2 million for the first time in the event's history. The one-day fundraiser brought in $2,086,566 from 1,819 donors—a remarkable achievement that bucks national trends showing declining participation in similar fundraising events.
"This is a testament to the strength of our Lawrence community," said Matt Baumler, interim Vice President of University Advancement. "At a time when universities across the country are seeing fewer donors participate in giving days, our community came together in extraordinary ways."
Giving Day supports the Lawrence Fund, which broadly sustains the Lawrence Experience—funding everything from classroom innovations to campus life programs and preparing students for life after graduation.
The reach of Giving Day 2025 was truly global, with donations arriving from all but three U.S. states and six different countries. Alumni from 74 different class years participated, demonstrating the enduring connection Lawrentians maintain with their alma mater across generations.
Leading the charge was the Class of 1976, which recorded the highest number of donors as they prepare to celebrate their 50th reunion this spring. Their enthusiastic participation exemplifies the deep commitment Lawrence alumni feel toward ensuring future generations can experience the transformative education they received.
Younger classes also saw high participation numbers. The classes of 2014 and 2016 broke into the top-five list for participation. Current students engaged as well, with 30 donors coming from those who are currently enrolled.
As organizations nationwide grapple with declining donor participation in annual giving events, Lawrence's story stands out—proof that when a community believes in its mission, amazing things can happen in just 24 hours.
